ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team defeated Indiana (Pa.), 4-1, in a PSAC Tournament quarterfinal on Tuesday at Penn State Behrend. With the win, the Lakers advanced to Friday's semifinals

DOUBLES

• The Lakers needed to win only 1 of 2 doubles matches on the courts to take a 1-0 lead as they picked up a forfeit victory at No. 3.
• Kayla Frost and Sangeeta Roopan clinched the doubles point with their win at No. 1 over Katya Minchenkova and Thais Andreotti, 6-4.

SINGLES

• Mercyhurst opened singles play with a 2-0 lead due to a forfeit win at No. 6.
• Athina Tsagkaraki claimed Mercyhurst's third point as she bested Mariana Valenzuela, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 3 match.
• After IUP pulled within 3-1, Roopan provided the clinching point with a win at No. 2. Roopan defeated Julia Newman, 6-3, 6-2.
• In matches that went unfinished, Frost held a 6-4, 4-5, lead in the No. 1 match and Jahr was up, 3-1, at No. 5.

NEXT UP

• The Lakers (15-7, 5-1), who are the West Division's No. 2 seed, will take on the East Division champ, West Chester (11-6, 5-0), in semifinal action at host Bloomsburg on Friday at 11 a.m.
• West Division champ Slippery Rock (15-7, 6-0) will take on the East's two-seed, Bloomsburg (14-2, 4-1), which defeated three-seed Millersville in Tuesday's other quarterfinal.
