Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team fell 4-3 to Syracuse during the Semifinal game of the College Hockey America Playoffs on Thursday.
Emma Nuutinen,
Summer-Rae Dobson and
Maggie Knott scored while
Rachel Marmen,
Michele Robillard and
Sarah Hine tallied assists for Mercyhurst (15-14-5, 12-7-2).
Lindsey Eastwood scored three goals while Anonda Hoppner had one goal for Syracuse (12-21-3, 11-8-2).
Six minutes into the first period, Syracuse got on the board first with a goal from Eastwood.
With 51 seconds left in the first period, Nuutinen scored her 16th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Marmen tallied an assist.
During the second period, Mercyhurst converted on the power play with Dobson's eighth goal of the season. Robillard added an assist.
One minute and thirteen seconds later, Eastwood scored her second of the night to tie the game back up at 2-2.
Syracuse then took the lead back at 13:42 of the second period. Hoppner scored the go-ahead goal.
During the third period, the Lakers converted on the power play for the second time of the night with Knott's fifth goal of the season. Hine picked up the lone assist.
One minute and nineteen seconds later, Syracuse capitalized on the power play to take a 4-3 lead and eventual game winning goal.
The Lakers were 2-for-5 on the power play while the Orange went 1-for-5.
Kennedy Blair made 22 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Ady Cohen stopped 28 shots for Syracuse.
