ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team defeated Penn State Behrend 19-5 and Penn State Club 16-6 during the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Saturday.

The Lakers are back in action on March 31, when they host Villanova at the Cathedral Prep Event Center at 10:00 a.m.

Mercyhurst 16, Penn State Behrend 6
Maddie Nye led the way for the Lakers with six goals.
Mason Feldstein had three goals while
Rachel Morris,
Mackenzie Ryburn and
Rachel Byrnes scored two goals apiece. Single goals were credited to
Michaela Hershey,
Sara Marin,
Jennifer Moshinsky and
Lindsey Mizrahi.

Mercyhurst scored first with a goal from Hershey before PSB tied the game at 1-1. Nye then scored three goals to give the Lakers a 4-1 lead and the Lakers led the rest of the way.

During the second quarter, Byrnes tallied two goals while Morris, Ryburn and Nye had one goal each to give Mercyhurst a 9-3 lead.

Nye and Feldstein each added two goals and Ryburn picked up one more goal to extend the Lakers lead to 15-4 in the third quarter.

During the fourth quarter, Marin, Moshinsky, Feldstein and Mizrahi each had one goal to give Mercyhurst a 19-5 win.

For PSB (3-16), Clare Jefferys and Remy De Guzman had two goals and JoJo Gager picked up one goal.

Sarah Hershey and Nye led the Lakers with four goals each.
Michaela Hershey had three goals and single goals were credited to
Isabella Morris, Mizrahi, Byrnes, Ryburn and Marin.

The Lakers took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter with three goals from
Sarah Hershey and single goals from and
Isabella Morris, Marin, Ryburn and Nye.

During the second quarter, Mercyhurst (4-13) was held scoreless while PSU scored two goals to make it 7-2.

Nye then scored two goals while
Michaela Hershey,
Sarah Hershey and Byrnes each picked up one goal in the third quarter to extend the Lakers lead to 12-4.

During the fourth quarter,
Michaela Hershey had two goals and Nye and Mizrahi added one goal apiece to give Mercyhurst a 16-6 win.

For PSU,  Emily Argentati scored four goals while Claire Beno and Abby Washabaugh had one goal each.
