LORETTO, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team lost two close games to St. Francis and Gannon at the Red Flash Invitational on Saturday.
The Lakers are back in action on March 29 against Grove City at 6 p.m.
St. Francis 9, Mercyhurst 8
Mackenzie Ryburn led the Lakers with three points and three steals while
Maddie Nye,
Rachel Morris and
Lindsey Mizrahi had two points each. Nye also tallied three steals. Single points were earned by
Michaela Hershey,
Sarah Hershey,
Rachel Byrnes and
Jennifer Moshinsky.
Sarah O'Keefe made five saves in net and has two steals for the Lakers.
Breanna Dupperon lead the way for St. Francis with four points. Julia Bradford had three points and Caroline Gillespie picked up two points. Ani Aghakhanian, Rebbeca Pendleton and Erin O'Neill had single points.
Rosalina Rivera made 11 saves in net for St. Francis (8-15).
Gannon 7, Mercyhurst 5
Sara Marin,
Mason Feldstein,
Sarah Hershey, Nye and Byrnes record one goal each for Mercyhurst. Morris tallied three assists while Byrnes and Moshinsky picked up one assist each. Ryburn and Byrnes each had three steals.
O'Keefe made 10 saves in net and had three steals for Mercyhurst (1-13).
Campbell Ruh lead for Gannon with four points while Sydney Fountain and Kelly Fehr put up three points each. Julie Kredinger and Lauren Rinderle had one point each.
Isabelle Vieira had 16 saves in net for Gannon (5-12).
