OLEAN, N.Y. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to NCAA Division I opponent Saint Bonaventure during non-conference competition on Wednesday.

The host Bonnies (2-6) swept doubles play to take a 1-0 lead and then won 4 of 6 singles matches to complete their victory.

Mercyhurst singles wins were recorded by Sangeeta Roopan and Ivona Plecevic at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

With Mercyhurst trailing 2-0, Roopan claimed a 7-5, 6-1, victory over Kahlei Reisinger. Then, Plecevic defeated Andrea Roque, 6-4, 6-3, to tie the team contest at 2-all.

However, SBU rattled off the next three points to claim victory.

Mercyhurst (2-1) will return to action on Saturday with another contest against a D-I opponen when it takes on Buffalo.
