Box Score SALEM, W. Va. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team scored two goals in 40 seconds to defeat Salem 2-1 during non-conference action on Tuesday.
 
Gustavo Requeijo and Zachary Martin scored while Connor Wilkinson had an assist for Mercyhurst (5-2-2).
 
Salem got on the board first with a goal in the eighth minute of play. The Tigers took the lead into halftime.
 
Mercyhurst came back with two goals in the second half, both scored within 40 seconds, to win 2-1.
 
During the 72 minute of play, Requeijo tied the game at 1-1 with an assist from Wilkinson. He shot the ball to the lower left corner of the net.
 
Forty seconds later, Martin scored in the top right corner to give Mercyhurst an eventual 2-1 win.
 
Alfredo Gallo made four saves in net for Mercyhurst to earn his first collegiate win. Luis Ramirez made one save in net for Salem.
 
Salem led 5-3 in shots on goal and had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Lakers are back in action Oct. 19 when they travel across town to Gannon for a 7:30 p.m. game.
