ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst baseball team heads to Glenville, W.V. to take on Glenville State College in a non-conference doubleheader this Friday, March 2 with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
 
The Lakers will also play a home game down in Washington, Pa. at Wild Things Park on Sunday. The nine-inning game against Post University will start at 1 p.m.
 
The Lakers (2-0) are coming off back-to-back shutouts in their first 2018 game action last weekend, including a combined no-hitter between Russell Lamovec and Chris Vallimont against Ohio Dominican.
 
Mercyhurst's games with Glenville State will be the fifth and sixth matchups against the Pioneers (3-6) in the last three seasons. The Lakers are 3-1 in the previous four games. Mercyhurst also played Post (4-3) last season in North Carolina, winning all three games.
 
LAKER OUTLOOK
Senior first baseman Daniel Elliott drove in both game-winning runs for the Lakers last weekend. His ninth-inning solo homer against ODU was Mercyhurst's only run and his third-inning RBI-single against Tiffin gave Mercyhurst a lead they did not relinquish.
 
As a combined pitching staff, Mercyhurst has 18 shutout innings between seven different pitchers. Over half the outs the Lakers have recorded so far have been strikeouts (29) compared to just five walks and two hits allowed.
 
MERCYHURST IN THE POLLS
The Lakers remain ranked in several national polls entering their second weekend of games this season. The Lakers lept into first place in the NCBWA Atlantic Region rankings this week.
