FAIRMONT, W. Va. -- Conor McCooey eclipsed the century mark for total wins in both singles and doubles play as the Mercyhurst men's tennis team claimed a 7-2 non-conference win over Fairmont State on Friday. The matchup was between two regionally-ranked teams in the Atlantic; Fairmont is No. 2 while Mercyhurst is No. 7.

McCooey teamed with Joaquin Aguilera for a win at No. 3 doubles before pushing to his 101st collegiate victory at fifth singles.

The Lakers won 2 of 3 doubles matches before taking 5 of 6 in singles competition.

McCooey and Aguilera battled from a 6-3 deficit to win the third pairs match over Micah Hornak and Dillon Early, 8-6.

Nenad Terzic and Cormac McCooey, the No. 1 doubles team in the Atlantic, were winners against Gui Pachane and Tom Liddy at No. 1 doubles, 8-2.

In singles action, winners for Mercyhurst were Terzic, Aguilera, Conor McCooey, Cormac McCooey and Sebastian Pardo.

Five of the six singles matches reached third sets or tiebreakers. Cormac McCooey (No. 15 Atlantic) clinched the victory for MU at third singles with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, win against Pachane.

Prior to the clincher, Terzic and Aguilera were winners at No. 1 and 2 singles. Terzic (No. 3 Atlantic) outlasted Alves (No. 13 Atlantic), 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, while Aguilera defeated Hornak (No. 16 Atlantic), 6-3, 6-3.

Pardo won his match at No. 4 singles over Higueras, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Conor McCooey got his singles victory at fifth singles over Early, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
