Matthew Minnick threw seven shutout innings before the bullpen worked two scoreless frames in the Laker baseball team's 6-0 victory over non-conference opponent Ohio Dominican on Monday.
Minnick scattered seven hits across seven innings while recording six strikeouts and two walks. Relievers
Jamie Lauria (2/3 IP) and
Matthew Keating (1 1/3 IP) then finished off the shutout.
For the Laker offense,
Jimmy Latona batted 3-for-4 with a double, run and two RBI,
Cameron Balego finished 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI, and
Sabatino DiNardo III went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and one RBI.
Daniel Elliott (RBI) and
Dan Popio added 2-for-4 games.
The Lakers got on the board with three runs in the second and led the rest of the way. Elliott had an RBI single, DiNardo ripped an RBI double and Latona added an RBI single.
Latona smacked a sacrifice fly in the MU fourth and then Balego ripped a two-run home run in the Laker seventh.
The Lakers will return to action with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders at Golden-Beacom on Mar. 10-11.
