ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent West Chester on Saturday at the Pennbriar Athletic Club.
The Lakers won 2 of 3 doubles matches before taking 5 of 6 in singles action during a matchup between regionally-ranked teams. Mercyhurst is third in the Atlantic while West Chester is ninth.
Mercyhurst earned points in the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches.
Nenad Terzic and
Cormac McCooey teamed for an 8-2 victory over Lucas Von Der Heyde and Keanu Travalino on the top tier. At No. 2,
Joaquin Aguilera and
Arseniy Sklyarov had an 8-2 win against Gerald Mars and Kyle Curry.
Terzic, McCooey and Sklyarov were also victorious in their respective singles matches. Terzic defeated Von Der Heyde at first singles, 6-2, 6-2; McCooey bested Travalino at third singles, 6-0, 6-1; and Sklyarov handled Curry at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.
In other singles action,
Sebastian Pardo won for Mercyhurst at fourth singles against Aiden Henken, 6-1, 6-1, and
Conor McCooey defeated Mars at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
