ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team claimed a 9-0 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Millersville on Friday at Pennbriar Athletic Club.
The Lakers outpointed their opponents, 24-3, in doubles play before holding a 72-6 advantage during singles action.
Conor McCooey and
Dusan Cerny teamed for the only shutout in doubles competition for Mercyhurst, claiming an 8-0 win against Dylan Wagner and Adam Kopitsky at No. 3 doubles.
Nenad Terzic and
Cormac McCooey had an 8-2 win against Christian Akerley and Christiian Boyer at first doubles while
Joaquin Aguilera and
Arseniy Sklyarov finished an 8-1 victory over Noah Ginder and Jordan Shultz at second doubles.
During singles action, the Lakers had a pair of 6-0, 6-0, wins from
Sebastian Pardo and
Conor McCooey. Pardo bested Wagner at fourth singles and
Conor McCooey defeated Shultz at fifth singles.
Terzic, the fourth-ranked player in the Atlantic Region, had a 6-0, 6-1, win against Akerley in the No. 1 singles match, while Mercyhurst's other regionally-ranked participant, Aguilera (No. 14 Atlantic) handled Boyer at third singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Cormac McCooey registered a 6-1, 6-1, triump at No. 2 singles against Ginder and Sklyarov took a 6-1, 6-0, decision versus Kopitsky at sixth singles.
