Men's Tennis Loses Close Contest To Hillsdale

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team lost by a slim 5-4 margin to Hillsdale in non-conference competition at Westwood Racquet Club on Saturday.

The Lakers held a 2-1 lead through the doubles portion of the match, but visiting Hillsdale responded with 4 of 6 points in singles action to secure the victory.

Joaquin Aguilera and Nenad Terzic, the fourth-ranked pairs team in the Atlantic Region, took a 9-7 victory in the No. 1 singles match over Justin Hyman and Dusan Delp. The Lakers picked up their other doubles point in the No. 2 match as brothers Conor McCooey and Cormac McCooey defeated Charlie Adams and John Ciraci, 8-5. The McCooeys are rated sixth in the Atlantic.

Singles points were earned by Mercyhurst in the first and fifth singles matches.

Mercyhurst's Nenad Terzic, the fourth-ranked singles player in the Atlantic, defeated Adams in a tough three-set match, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Then, at No. 5, Arseniy took a pair of close sets in his 6-4, 6-4, win over Julian Clouette, 6-4, 6-4.
