MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team defeated Allegheny, 9-0, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.
The Lakers (1-0) opened doubles play with a combined score of 24-7 over the host Gators (1-2) before taking all 12 sets in singles action by a combined tally of 74-25.

Conor McCooey and
Cormac McCooey teamed for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Allegheny's Jai Redkar and Zach Anderson. At No. 2 pairs, MU's
Nenad Terzic and
Joaquin Aguilera defeated Colton Johnson-Taylor and Chaz Simunyola, 8-3, while
Sebastian Pardo and
Arseniy Sklyarov took a 8-3 victory against Cooper Miller and Will Andres at third doubles.
In singles action, Pardo turned in the only 6-0, 6-0, victory for the Lakers, winning the No. 6 match over Andres.
Cormac McCooey came close to Pardo's accomplishment with a 6-0, 6-1, triumph at No. 2 singles.
Also for Mercyhurst, Terzic defeated Redkar, 7-5, 6-2, at first singles; Aguilera handled Johnson-Taylor at third singles, 6-1, 6-3;
Conor McCooey won the No. 4 singles match over Chaz Simunyola, 6-2, 7-5; and Sklyarov defeated Mike Siegel, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles. Dating back to the 2015-16 season, Aguilera has earned singles points in three straight team matches for Mercyhurst.
The Lakers will return to action on Sept. 23-25 when they host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Region Championships at Pennbriar Athletic Club.
