Box Score 2 AVON, Ohio -- The 20th-ranked Mercyhurst baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games, 7-3 and 1-0, to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday.

Game One: Notre Dame 7, Lakers 3Mercyhurst led on two occasions -- 1-0 and 2-1 -- but a four-run third inning helped the host Falcons take game one.
Brendan Cox batted 2-for-4 with a home run to lead the Mercyhurst offense.
Austin Alonge added a 2-for-3 game,
Drew Borowski went 2-for-2 and
Hank Morrison doubled.
Jake Gnacinski was the losing pitcher. He worked 2 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on six hits. He recorded two strikeouts and one walk.
Mercyhurst went up, 1-0, in the first half on Cox's homer before Notre Dame drew even at 1-1 in the bottom half of the first.
Daniel Elliott gave the Lakers their second lead at 2-1 in the third, but the Falcons then responded with their four runs in the third, going ahead 5-2.
Jimmy Latona had an RBI single for Mercyhurst in the fourth, trimming the Notre Dame lead to 5-3, but that was as close as the Lakers would get.
The Falcons scored two runs in the fifth to finish the scoring.
Nick Ely led the Falcon offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs. Winning pitcher Josh Armbruster gave up three runs on eight hits while tallying six strikeouts, two walks and two hit batsmen.
Game One: Notre Dame 1, Lakers 0A fourth-inning RBI single by Julio Rosales accounted for the hosts' only run of the game.
Cam Knott was the losing pitcher for Mercyhurst, giving up one run on two hits while finishing with five strikeouts and two walks.
Jamie Lauria worked one scoreless frame.

Drew Borowski had the Lakers' three hits.
Austin Tanfield was the winning pitcher for Notre Dame (6-8), tossing seven shutout innings. He had four strikeouts and four walks.
The Lakers (10-5)Â will return to action on Friday, Mar. 18, when they have a four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference series against Seton Hill.
