PHILIPPI, W. Va. - The fifth-ranked Mercyhurst University wrestling team had no trouble with Alderson-Broaddus on Saturday evening, winning by the final of 52-0. With the victory, the Lakers improved to 10-1 on the season while the Battlers fell to 2-4 overall.

Mercyhurst earned bonus points in all ten matches on Saturday, earning three wins by major decision, two by technical fall, and five via pinfall.

Redshirt sophomore Willie Bohince got the ball rolling by pinning Cody Buchanan of Alderson-Broaddus with 58 seconds remaining in the first period. Bohince improved to 21-3 overall and 11-0 in dual competition. His older brother, redshirt senior Ryan Bohince, followed with an 8-0 major decision win over Micah Powell in the 133-pound match.

Redshirt junior Kody Young pinned Michael Stokes at 1:44 to give the Lakers a 16-0 lead after just three bouts. Redshirt junior Jeremy Landowski earned a major decision win at 149 to improve his record to 18-3 overall and 9-1 in duals this season.

The Lakers took a 25-0 advantage after five matches when redshirt sophomore Francis Mizia earned a 16-0 technical fall win with just six seconds left in the opening period. Redshirt juniors Angelo Bortoluzzi and August Mizia kept the win streak intact with victories via pin and major decision, respectively, over the next two matches. Sophomore Dakota DesLauriers then pinned Garrett Onderko with 35 seconds left in the first period in the 184-pound match to extend the lead to 41-0.

Redshirt junior Brian Beattie and sophomore Andrew Welton closed out the match, and the shutout, with back-to-back wins at 197 and 285. Beattie won via technical fall while Welton pinned Aerison Parrish in just 54 seconds to seal the night.

The Laker grapplers will be home for the first time in a dual meet this season when they host East Stroudsburg at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center on Friday, January 23. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
