ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst wrestling team fell 34-13 to Penn State Behrend despite major decision victories from
Edwin Mooney and
Joey Baronick in their dual meet.
The Lakers celebrated their senior class prior to Friday night's dual meet.
Jake LeClerc and
Jaden Reagle were honored for their contributions to the program.
Mooney earned a 22-10 major decision victory to get the Lakers on the board after
Travis Browning fell in the 125 bout.
Keith Mincin took it down to the wire in the 174 lbs match, with a chance to tie the match at seven with a take down in the final seconds of the third period. Mincin fell by decision 7-4.
Joey Baronick earned a win my major decision in the heavyweight bout. Baronick scored early and often to secure five points for the Lakers.
The Lakers are back in action tomorrow at the Edinboro Open.
