ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst University men's tennis team concluded its fall schedule on Monday afternoon with a 9-0 blanking of Penn State-Behrend at the Behrend Tennis Courts. The Lakers wrapped up their fall portion of the schedule with a 2-1 overall record.

Mercyhurst opened the afternoon with a clean sweep in doubles action, losing only four total games in the three matches.

Sophomore Conor McCooey and freshman Nenad Terzic teamed up for an 8-0 victory over Behrend's #1 team of Yanique Apgar and Matt Johnson. Sophomore Miguel Lopez and senior Kyle Hosier earned an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles while junior Travis Beck and junior Daniel Gimenez picked up an 8-1 victory at #2 to complete the sweep.

The Lakers kept up their torrid play in singles action, winning all six matches in straight sets. The first result to come in during Monday's action was a 6-0, 6-1 victory by sophomore Ross Molinaro IV at #3 singles. Lopez followed with a whitewash of Max Morrow at #5, 6-0, 6-0, to clinch the team victory.

McCooey (6-1, 6-0) at #2, Beck (6-1, 6-3) at #1, Hosier (6-4, 6-3) at #6, and senior Mike Vinopal (6-3, 6-1) at #4 completed the Laker sweep in singles action.

Mercyhurst will be off until February 14, 2015 when it squares off against Shaw University at the Pennbriar Athletic Club.
