This marks the Lakers' first victory against Gannon since October 29, 2010 when Mercyhurst beat Gannon 7-1. That match was also held at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field. The past two seasons, Mercyhurst has ended their regular season against the cross-town rival.

With the help from her teammates, Testa was the first to dent the scoreboard only six minutes into the first half. Senior
Perrin Kern made a backwards pass from 16 yards out to Testa who was a few yards back. Kern tallied her second assist of the season.
Gannon's Kaitlyn Kissell marked her second goal of the season, and evened the score just four minutes later. The Golden Knights Mani Brueckner sent the ball in from an awarded corner kick for Kissell to head the ball behind goaltender
Ellie McDougall.
Graduate Student
Maeve Clarke scored her first goal as a Mercyhurst Laker and the game-winning goal to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead heading into the locker room. At the 42:05 mark into the second, Clarke received another Mercyhurst backward pass this time from senior
Kristina Roberti.
Testa registered her fifth goal of the season, second of the contest at the 68:11 mark of the second half. Testa cashed the unassisted goal after a Laker rush to Gannon's net. Gannon's goaltender allowed a rebound, which Testa hit the post before finishing her own rebound to extend the lead to two.

The win also marks the women's soccer team's first win against a nationally ranked opponent since September 12, 2009. The Lakers beat #10 California (Pa.) 3-2 also at the Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
