ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst University (0-2-0) fell to the University at Buffalo (2-0-0) with a final score of 2-0 on Sunday at Saxon Stadium. Despite the loss, the Lakers own Adri Lika made four saves against Buffalo's 11 shots on goal.
The first half began with Buffalo exerting offensive pressure early, earning a corner kick in the second minute and several shot attempts. The Lakers' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Lika, made crucial saves, including stopping a pair of shots from Buffalo roughly 20 minutes into play.
Despite the efforts, Buffalo broke through in the 37th minute. The half ended with Buffalo leading 1-0 after maintaining control for much of the half.
Buffalo extended its lead in the second half, securing a goal in the 64th minute. The Lakers defense faced a series of shots early in the period, but goalkeeper Lika managed crucial saves.
The Lakers' offense couldn't capitalize on its chances, with Jenna Popowski's shot in the 84th minute being saved by Buffalo. The period concluded with a score of 2-0 in favor of Buffalo.
Adri Lika finished the match with four saves over 90 minutes, facing 20 shots. Popowski contributed offensively with two shots, one of which was on target. Anamari Bosnjak added to the attack with one shot on goal.
