In the season opener against Oakland, Caterina Cappiello and Julia Bullock each recorded two shots to lead Mercyhurst, while Sadie Lewis registered the Lakers' lone shot on goal. In goal, Adri Lika made four saves in a full 90 minutes, keeping the Lakers within striking distance before Oakland scored three times in the second half.

Buffalo Bulls' Successful Start

Buffalo comes into the match with momentum after securing a 2-0 victory against Niagara on August 12 at Broadview Stadium. The Bulls demonstrated strong offensive capabilities, with goals scored by Eva Blatz and Sofia Mastracci. Buffalo's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Lexie Thompson, held Niagara at bay, allowing only one shot on goal throughout the match.

Buffalo's balanced attack is complemented by key players such as Ella McDonald, who provided an assist in their opening game, and Mae Hunt, who also contributed an assist. The Bulls were able to control the game with 15 total shots, six of which were on target.
