#1 Men's Lacrosse Sinks Dominican, 13-2, Tuesday

ERIE, Pa.- The #1 Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team beat Dominican (Calif.), 13-2, Tuesday afternoon at Tullio Field. Eight different Lakers scored in the non-conference victory.
 
The Lakers got on the board quickly, with Zac Reid finishing a James Chayka pass 47 seconds into the game. Jake McAndrew found the back of the net a few minutes later. Brian Scheetz hit Brady Heseltine for a goal at the 4:32 mark and then twenty seconds later, they reversed spots, with Heseltine finding Scheetz for a 4-0 lead. Cory Becker finished the first-period scoring with his first career goal.
 
In the second quarter, Scheetz assisted on a Deven Alves score 1:03 into the frame. Reid found Alves for another goal at the 7:54 mark, making it 7-0. McAndrew passed to Scheetz, who scored with two minutes to go in the first half.
 
Dominican scored its first goal with 13:23 remaining in the third quarter. Mercyhurst answered, though, as McAndrew scored. Scheetz then found Connor Enright for a goal at the 5:43 mark, stretching the margin to 10-1. Becker assisted on a Heseltine goal to close scoring in the third.
 
Becker hit McAndrew for another score with 11:11 left in the contest, making it 12-1. Brent Rotz found the back of the net late in the fourth and then the Penguins scored with 1:57 to play, creating the final margin.
 
Scheetz led with two goals and three assists. McAndrew had a hat trick and a helper, while Heseltine had two goals and an assist. Becker tallied a goal and two assists. Alves scored twice and Reid had a goal and an assist. Michael Grace made eight saves in net.
 
The Lakers have now won 22 straight regular season games and 15 consecutive home regular season contests. They travel to Lindenwood (Mo.) on Saturday, March 16. Faceoff for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) opener is scheduled for 1 p.m.
