WENTZVILLE, Mo. – The Mercyhurst University women's hockey team will travel to Lindenwood for an in conference series on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 15 with a 12:00 p.m. central time start. The weekend marks the final series before the New Year.
The Lakers own a lifetime 8-0-0 record against Lindenwood throughout the series which started two years ago. The Lakers have outscored the Lions 64 to five with their last meeting ending with a score of 5-1. So far, Mercyhurst is the only team that Lindenwood has not captured a win against in the CHA with their first meeting beginning back on October 29, 2011.
With the undefeated series, Mercyhurst (12-5-2; 5-2-1 CHA) has collected four shutouts in the eight meetings. The Lakers have also captured an NCAA record against Lindendwood (2-14-2; 2-5-1 CHA) back in October 29, 2011 when Mercyhurst tallied a 14-1 win and collected seven goals in one period so match the NCAA record of team goals per period.

Christine Bestland scored her first collegiate hat trick against the Lions last season and tallied her career-high points per game with six points on three goals and three assists in the 6-1 victory in Wentzville. Goaltender
Amanda Makela has been the starting goaltender this season and has played just two games in her career leading up to the weekend against the Lions. Makela faced a combined 13 shots in those two contests.
Heading into the weekend, the Lakers are on a five game winning streak with Mercyhurst outscoring their opponents 24 to six throughout their longest winning streak of the season. After collecting two shutouts, the Lakers have jumped to eighth in the nation in goals against (1.68) and have improved to seventh in scoring offense (3.26). Mercyhurst also had 17 of their 18 skaters pick up at least one point against the Nittany Lions and had goals from 16 different players. Eight different players also reached a career-high in their respective category and four different players reached a career milestone.
Lindenwood collected a split against Syracuse in their last meeting to pick up their second win of the season. Each of the Lions two wins have been decided by one goal and have collected just one win on home ice (1-5-2) on November 22 against Penn State. Lindenwood's Nicole Hensely has been the key netminder for the Lions as she leads the nation in saves with 638, which is 150 more saves then the next goaltender. Hensley set the NCAA record for most saves in a game (93) which was previously set by Mercyhurst goaltender Desi Clark (78).
