PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team lost, 12-8, to Johns Hopkins Sunday at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship. The Lakers closed their season with a 19-8 record and a tenth-place finish at the weekend tournament.
The Blue Jays led, 4-3, after a quarter. They held a 5-4 halftime edge and then pulled away in the second half to take ninth place.
Brett Luehmann scored three goals to lead the offense.
Raul Ariza had a goal and two assists, while
Danilo Svorcan scored twice.
Isaac Ogloblin dished out two assists in the loss.Â
Mercyhurst had a strong season, winning 19 games in 2013. It will have to replace nine seniors.
