ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team won two games Saturday, beating George Washington, 9-8, and Johns Hopkins, 11-6, at the United States Naval Academy.

Against GW, the Lakers led, 3-2, after a period. The Colonials responded with three goals in the second quarter, tying the match at five. George Washington then grabbed an 8-7 edge through three frames.

In the fourth,
Brett Luehmann scored with 4:40 left to even the game at eight apiece.
Danilo Svorcan then found the back of the net with 3:37 remaining to put Mercyhurst in the lead. The Lakers held on from there, picking up a key victory.

Matt Cote registered 11 saves and three steals. Svorcan scored four goals and Luehmann had a goal and three assists.
Rob Clinger recorded two goals and two assists, while
Raul Ariza had two goals and a helper.

Mercyhurst came back with another win later in the day, taking down Johns Hopkins. The game was even at one after a frame, but the Lakers gained a 4-2 halftime lead. After each scored three times in the third, Mercyhurst pulled away with four scores in the fourth quarter.

Luehmann had four goals and an assist. Cote posted 13 saves.
Isaac Ogloblin finished with two goals and two assists, while
Garret Schoeman tallied a goal and two helpers.
Dave Matulis scored twice and
Colin McDonald had a goal and an assist.

The Lakers close the regular season with a 17-4 record. They will wait for their seeding in next weekend's Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Championship. Seeding will be determined on Monday, November 4.Â
