Men's Water Polo Closes Regular Season at Navy (Video)

Garret Schoeman has dished out a team-high 38 assists this year.
ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst men's water polo team travels to Navy for a trio of games to close out the regular season this weekend. The Lakers face Navy on Friday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. and then play George Washington and Johns Hopkins the following day.


 
Mercyhurst is 15-3 this year. It beat Monmouth and Notre Dame College at home last weekend, clinching the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern-West Division title.
 
Navy has a 10-14 mark in 2013. It played just three games in October, losing to Bucknell and Princeton before beating St. Francis last week.
 
GW is 12-8, including a 2-1 mark last weekend. The Colonials fell at Princeton and then defeated Iona and Fordham.
 
Johns Hopkins is 16-6, coming off a CWPA Division III Championship two weeks ago. The Blue Jays swept four matches, including a 13-8 decision over MIT in the title game.
 
Brett Luehmann is the Lakers' top scorer with 69 points. He has a team-high 49 goals. Garret Schoeman has posted 29 goals and 38 assists. Isaac Ogloblin is next with 24 goals and 14 helpers this season. Matt Cote has gone 15-3 in goal, allowing 8.16 goals per game.
 
Carl Dowzicky paces the Midshipmen attack with 42 goals. Robert Sutherland has totaled 50 points on 36 goals and 14 assists. Garrett Sabesky has seen the majority of time in cage, giving up 9.11 goals per game.
 
For George Washington, Daniel Tyner leads with 54 goals and 83 points. Brian Mojica has a team-high 30 assists. Connor Dillon is allowing 11.19 goals per game in 16 starts.
 
Wes Hopkins has 50 goals and 50 assists to lead the JHU offense. Johnny Beal is next with 36 goals and 35 helpers. Erik Henrikson has appeared in 16 matches, giving up 10.12 goals per.
 
Seeding for next weekend's CWPA Southern Championship will be determined on Monday, November 4. All four teams in action at Navy this weekend will be competing for position at Southerns.
