Men's Soccer Overpowers East Stroudsburg Friday, 2-0

Senior Austin Solomon had one goal against the Warriors.
Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to overpower East Stroudsburg, 2-0.  Senior Diego Gustin has his second straight shutout of the season with three saves.

The first half was pretty even match with Mercyhurst leading the shots four to one.  The Lakers had six corner kicks but could not find the back of the net until the second. 

With a little over nine minutes into the second half, senior Austin Solomon scored his first goal of the season.  Solomon had a total of three of the eleven shots for the Lakers.  Senior Alex Manea had the only assist on the goal.  That gave the Lakers the momentum they needed.  Manea also contributed with a goal at the 70:13 mark of the second.  Sophomore Fernando Martinez and freshman Sten Marcson assisted Manea on the goal. 

Gustin improves to 2-3 in the season, recording his eleventh career shutout.  Callum Hampson of East Stroudsburg takes the loss moving to a 0-1 record.

The Lakers move to 2-3 on the season, taking eleven shots and seven corner kicks.  The Warriors drop to 1-4 in the season.  Mercyhurst plays on the road tomorrow at Bloomsburg University.  Time of the match is 5 pm.
