Tedaldi Holds Firm as Men's Soccer Draws Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Mercyhurst tied Central Conn. St. 0-0 Sunday at CCSU Soccer Field. The Lakers generated six shots and four corner kicks during a late second-half pressure stretch, but could not find the net.

The Lakers' best verified stretch came midway through the first half, when they earned corners at 15:19 and 21:09 and recorded shots from Benjamin Buckley and Alvar Silva, with Silva's attempt saved by the Central Conn. St. goalkeeper to keep the match scoreless. Earlier, the Lakers also created set-piece chances with corner kicks in the fifth and 12th minutes while Jaime Tedaldi helped keep Central Conn. St. off the board. Central Conn. St. pushed back from 26:59 to 29:11 with three shots and a corner, but Tedaldi saved a shot during that sequence. Jero Bencomo added a shot in the 41st minute, and the half ended with neither side scoring.

The Lakers closed the second half with a late attacking push, generating six shots and four corner kicks from 81:09 to 89:57 while the match stayed 0-0. Earlier, Tedaldi made a save at 45:34, and the Lakers absorbed two Central Conn. St. corners before the half settled into a physical stretch that included yellow cards to Jo Hanamoto and Buckley. The Lakers created set-piece chances of their own with corners at 62:27 and 63:17 around a Max Beech shot, then continued to press with late attempts from Harrison Dudley, Leonard Seitz, Joe Chinchilla and Buckley. The Central Conn. St. goalkeeper saved shots by Seitz and Chinchilla in the final three minutes, and the Lakers finished the match at 0-0.

Up next, the Lakers' stay on the road as they play FDU on October 15th at 1PM.
