ERIE, Pa.- The Mercyhurst women's water polo team swept two matches Sunday, beating Utica, 14-4, and Chatham, 10-1. Both matches were played at Penn State Behrend.
Against Utica, Hurst scored seven goals in the first quarter and rolled from there.
Monique Pentecost and
Trish Armstrong each recorded hat tricks, while
Ali Iaquinto,
Allie Grimes, and
Kylie McCormick each had two goals.
Kimberly Goodhart and
Bella Hersh added a goal apiece. Goodhart and Grimes combined for six assists in the victory. Hersh posted seven steals.
Hope Rozelle made 10 saves for the win.
In the win over Chatham, the Lakers went up 2-0 after one quarter and 7-0 at the half. Armstrong and Hersh both scored three goals, while Goodhart scored twice. Iaquinto and Grimes added a goal each. Grimes and McCormick both dished out two assists and Goodhart made five steals. Rozelle recorded 11 saves in net.
Mercyhurst improved to 7-12 on the season. It takes on Harvard and George Washington next weekend.
