ERIE, Pa. - The eighth-ranked women's hockey team, coming off a split last weekend with ninth-ranked Quinnipiac at the Mercyhurst Ice Center, travels for the first time in the 2011-12 season as they head to Minnesota State-Mankato for a pair of games with the Mavericks.

Faceoffs are scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday night and 2:07 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers (1-1) opened the regular season last weekend, shutting out Quinnipiac 4-0 on Friday night before suffering a 1-0 setback on Saturday afternoon.

Mercyhurst got goals from four different players on Friday night - seniors Bailey Bram and Kelley Steadman, junior Lauren Jones, and sophomore Christine Bestland. Bestland and Steadman also each added an assist in the victory. Eight different players collected a point, with senior Jess Jones, junior Gina Buquet, sophomore Christie Cicero, and freshman Caroline Luczak picking up assists. Senior goaltender Hillary Pattenden registered her 81st career victory and her 13th career shutout on Friday.

On Saturday, the Bobcats made a second period goal stand up to leave Erie with a split. Pattenden was again on her game, stopping 31-of-32 Quinnipiac shots on goal. For the weekend, she stopped 51-of-52 for a .981 save percentage, and on Monday, she was named the College Hockey America Goaltender of the Week.

Minnesota State, a member of the WCHA, disposed of newcomer Lindenwood University, sweeping the Lions 4-3 and 10-2 to start its season 2-0. Sophomore Lauren Rogan led the Mavericks with five goals in the two games, while junior Lauren Smith and former Laker, sophomore Lauren Barnes each collected a goal and four assists in the two games. Senior goalkeeper Alli Altmann and sophomore Danielle Butters each started a game in net and combined to stop 27-of-32 Lindenwood shots.

The Lakers are 9-1 lifetime against the Mavericks, with the last meeting occurring on January 2, 2010 at the Ice Center. Mercyhurst won that game 8-2. Minnesota State's only win came on opening day of the 2005-06 season, a 2-0 shutout of the Lakers, also at Mercyhurst.
