WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's soccer team won its second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match after beating West Chester University, 2-1 today Oct.14.
The Lakers now hold a 10-3-0 record overall and improve to 4-2-0 in the PSAC. The loss drops the Golden Rams to 4-7-2 overall and 0-4-2 in the PSAC.
Senior
Billy Colton tallied the Lakers first goal this afternoon; at the 31:54 mark Colton beat the keeper on an unassisted play. The netter gives him 10 on the season, this is the fourth season the Pitsea, England native has hit double-digits in the goal column.
The Lakers took six shots in the first half compared to West Chester's three. Mercyhurst also held the corner kick advantage, 4-1.

Austin Solomon who punched the ball past West Chester's keeper for his fourth goal of the season.
The 'Hurst controlled the ball for the majority of the match and the defense had built a clean sheet until the 85
th minute when a foul was called inside the box. The penalty gave Brett Snyder of West Chester a chance to erase the zero off the board. Snyder beat junior keeper
Diego Gustin to bring the Golden Rams within one of the 13
th ranked team in the nation.
After the tally the Lakers defense went right back to work, shutting down the attack of the Golden Rams and helping Mercyhurst to its 10
th win of the season.
The victory gives Gustin a 10-3-0 record overall this season while his counterpart Garrett Bleiler suffered the loss, dropping him to 4-7-2 on the season.
The Lakers carry a two-game winning streak into tomorrow's match against Millersville University. The Lakers will play at Millersville at 3:30 p.m.
