Lakers Extend Winning Streak to Six Games

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's water polo team extended its winning streak to six games Saturday afternoon, defeating Penn State Behrend, 14-6, Notre Dame College, 21-6, and Salem International, 10-1, all at the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Behrend.

With the victories, the Lakers improve to 8-3 on the season and 4-0 in Collegiate Water Polo Association play.

Mercyhurst used a strong start in all three games to mark its longest winning streak of the season, holding a 27-7 edge through the first 16 minutes of each contest.

In the first game, the Lakers jumped out to an 8-3 advantage before outscoring the Lions 3-1 in the third and 3-2 in the fourth. Against Notre Dame, Mercyhurst scored 14 goals through the first two quarters en route to its largest offensive output of the season.

Concluding the day, head coach Curtis Robinette's squad played a defensive-minded contest, holding Salem International scoreless through three quarters while building an 8-0 advantage.
