Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's water polo team continued their season when they faced off against Gannon Sunday, falling 26-14.
Mercyhurst scored their first goal of the game thanks to
Auggie Paredes.
Caden Stover was also able to get on the board, allowing the Lakers to go back and forth with Gannon. Gannon produced seven goals in the first quarter, but
Elijah Linman and
Asher Jones kept the deficit at three.
In the second quarter,
Nate Lutz opened up the scoring for the Lakers. Alex Glyde was able to contribute some saves for the Lakers to keep them in the game.
Nate Cheney scored a goal as well. Jones scored a penalty goal to keep the deficit at seven.
In the third quarter, Jones continued to display his offense by scoring an extra man goal for yet another hat trick this season. Lutz and
Daniel Goldgisser contributed goals with the addition of an extra man goal from Stover.
In the fourth quarter, Jones continued to be dominant by scoring his fourth goal of the game. Stover and Lutz both scored their third goals of the game, giving them both the hat trick.
The Lakers will return to Erie on Oct. 5 when they take on George Washington at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
