WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. -- The Mercyhurst College men's tennis team split a pair of matches against teams from the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday, downing Charleston 9-0 before being nipped by West Liberty 5-4.
The Lakers (11-10) used a strong showing against Charleston to defeat the Atlantic Region's fourth-ranked squad. However, Mercyhurst could not maintain momentum against West Liberty, the region's fifth-ranked squad, as the Lakers dropped five straight singles matches.
Mercyhurst returns to action on Tuesday when the Lakers take on Lake Erie College in the final regular season match of the year.
