ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's water polo team defeated Washington & Jefferson 12-3 to stretch its winning streak to 10 games and finish its conference slate with a perfect 8-0 record Sunday morning at the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Behrend. It marks the third straight season that Mercyhurst has won all eight games in Collegiate Water Polo Association play.
Four different players scored multiple goals, including freshman
Brett Luehmann with a game-high three tallies. Senior
Kane Ashton, junior
Josh Rodriguez and freshman
Tye Schreiber each added a pair, while senior
Alex Moggridge, and freshmen
Colin McDonald and
Danilo Svorcan found the back of the net once.
Mercyhurst (12-3, 8-0 CWPA) pounced on the Presidents early, holding a 7-0 advantage in the first quarter before chipping in four more in the second to take an 11-0 lead into halftime. After a scoreless third, the Lakers closed out the game with their 12th goal of the match while allowing three W&J scores.

Andy Sekulski earned the win in goals with eight saves in the first quarter. Freshman
Matt Cote played the middle frames with eight saves, and sophomore
Brandon Yasses recorded the same amount in the fourth.
