Lakers Take 13th Place at Ted Barclay Invitational

Granville, Ohio – Mercyhurst men's golf finished in 13th place in the Ted Barclay Spring Inviational which concluded Sunday, hosted by Denison University. The Lakers registered 325 strokes in round two and finished the tournament with a total of 641. 

Tyler Bidwell led the Lakers with a 77 in the second round, following an opening-round 73, and finished in a tie for 10th place in the field of 85 golfers. Derek Fisher followed his first-round 76 with a round of 84 strokes Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 160, tying him for 60th place. Garrett Kimple improved by three strokes from his Saturday total, firing a 79 Sunday to finish in a tie for 63rd place with 161 for the tournament. Matt Mahoney completed the Lakers' scoring with 171 over the two rounds, finishing in 82nd place.

Derek Elliot concluded his first golf tournament at Mercyhurst in a tie for 56th place with 158 strokes, registering two rounds of 79. Michael Sito finished with a two-day total of 165.

De Pauw University claimed the team championship with 585, followed by Wittenberg and Mount Union in a second place tie with 601 strokes. John Carroll and Muskingum tied for fourth with 602. 

De Pauw's Ronnie Harris shot a three-under par 68 Sunday for a two-day total of 139 to win medalist honors. 

The Lakers will next compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Thursday, April 9.
