Men's Golf Wraps Up Competition at Wright State Invitational

SPRINGBORO, OHIO – The Mercyhurst men's golf team wrapped up play at their penultimate tuneup before NEC Championships. Peter Malo Jr. led the way, finishing inside the top 25 with a 6-over par 219.
 
The team finished tied for 11th in the 14 team field, carding their best round on the first 18 holes with 297. The Lakers fired matching 303s in the final rounds to finish with a 56-hole total of 903.
 
Malo Jr. had his best round on the opening 18 holes, firing a 1-over 72. He followed that with rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at 6-over 219.
 
A 74 in the opening round for Evan Rowane was his best of the tournament. The senior followed it up with a 78 in round two and a 75 in round three.
 
Darien Swanson finished two shots behind Rowane, carding scores of 75-75-79. Swanson shot a 2-under 34 on the front nine in his opening round, but two double bogeys on the back resulted in a 4-over 75 on the round.
 
Senior Matthew Spadacini was also in the lineup for the Lakers firing scores of 80-76-76.
 
Freshmen Daniel Gambone (76-78-82) and Barrett Paolini (87-85-90) rounded out the Lakers field.
 
Mercyhurst will play its final tune up Tuesday, April 21 as it host Canisius for a dual match before the NEC Championship Tournament April 24-26.
