Lakers Conclude Washington and Jefferson Invitational

Tyler Bidwell finished second at the W&J Invitational.
Canonsburg, Pa. - The Mercyhurst men's golf team concluded the Peter C. Rossin Tournament in fifth place. The second round was contested Monday, April 27 at Southpointe Golf Course, hosted by Washington and Jefferson College.

Washington and Jefferson swept the first two places in the tournament, taking first with a score of 609, while their B team claimed second position with 645 strokes over the two-day tournament. Lake Erie College and Penn State-Behrend finished in a tie for third place with 668 strokes, while Mercyhurst took fifth place with a total score of 672.

The Lakers shot 345 as a team Monday. Tyler Bidwell continued his solid play, adding a 75 to match his score from the first round. Bidwell took second place overall out of 27 competitors. Derek Elliot shot a 94 Monday for a tournament total of 174, giving him a 20th place finish. Garrett Kimple finished in 21st place with a two-day total of 175 after shooting 91 Monday. Derek Fisher placed 23rd with a 36-hole total of 179 shots. Matt Mahoney rounded out Mercyhurst's entrants in the tournament, tying for 25th place with a total of 181 strokes.

Mark Fillari of W&J took home medalist honors with a total of 149 strokes, one better than Mercyhurst's Tyler Bidwell.

The Lakers are next scheduled to compete in the Gannon Invitational, which has been postponed.
