Latrobe, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's golf team placed 13th in the 2009 Saint Vincent Bearcat Invitational, hosted Thursday by Saint Vincent College at Latrobe Country Club. 

Mercyhurst registered a team total of 356 strokes, taking 13th position out of a field of 15 programs. The Lakers were led by Derek Elliot, who shot an 87 to finish in a tie for 47th place out of 74 total golfers. Derek Fisher posted a round of 88 strokes to tie for 51st place. Garrett Kimple tied for 54th with a one-round score of 89. Mike Wayner shot a 92 and Michael Sito# registered 94 strokes. 

Clarion won the tournament with a one-round total of 304 strokes. Saint Vincent's gold team finished in second place, led by Doug Mehall, who won with a score of 71. Washington & Jefferson placed third with a score of 323.

The Lakers will host the Battle of Lake Erie Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at Downing Golf Course, as they will face Gannon and Penn State-Behrend.
