Indiana, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's golf team concluded the 2009 IUP Invitational in 15th place with a two-day score of 655 at the Indiana Country Club. The Lakers made a five-stroke improvement from their first round. 

Mercyhurst was led on the links by senior Tyler Bidwell, who posted a two-over par 73, nine strokes better than his first round total. He finished in a tie for 40th place out of 83 golfers with a two-round score of 155. Derek Fisher shot an 82, giving him a total of 163 strokes for the tournament and a tie for 66th place. Colin Farabaugh added an 84 for a two-round total of 171, tying him for 78th place. Ben Deets toured the course in 94 strokes following a first-round 80. Patrick Jackson registered an 86 and finished with 177 strokes for the tournament. 

Concord University won the team championship with 577 strokes. Clarion finished in second with 584, followed closely in third by IUP with 585. St. Francis (Pa.) placed fourth with 590 while Millersville rounded out the top five with 591 strokes. 

Clarion's Jared Schmader took the first place medalist award with a two-day total of 139, two strokes under par for the championship. 

The Lakers will next play at the St. Vincent Invitational Thursday, April 16 at Latrobe Country Club.
