Clarion, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's golf team is in 14th place out of 18 teams after day one of the Hal Hansen Invitational Tournament, hosted by Clarion University.
California (Pa.) leads the tournament with 297 strokes, leading Concord by one stroke, while Ohio Valley (300), Fairmont State (304) and West Liberty State finish out the top five.
Mercyhurst trails West Chester by one stroke for 13th and Seton Hill by four strokes for 12th.
J.C. Beecroft of Ohio Valley leads after day one with a score of 70 on the par-72 course. Kyle Long of Concord is in second with an even-par 72.
The final round of the invitational takes place Monday.
