Men's Golf Captures Gannon Invitational Championship

Tyler Bidwell earned medalist honors Monday.
Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's golf team won the team championship in the Gannon Invitational, held Monday at Lake Shore Country Club. Tyler Bidwell earned medalist honors in the Lakers' winning effort.

Mercyhurst scored 309 over the one-day tournament, edging both Gannon and Lake Erie College, who tied for second with 311 strokes for the three-team meet. All three teams also competed in the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Tyler Bidwell won medalist honors, shooting a one-under par 71 in leading the Lakers to victory. Garrett Kimple scored a 76 in tying for third place. Patrick Jackson and Ben Deets tied for 15th place with matching 81's to finish Mercyhurst's team scoring. Michael Sito also competed, compiling an 83 for 19th place. Michael Wayner shot a 98 for 21st place.
 
Matt Barnes from Gannon came in second place individually, two strokes behind Bidwell with 73.

Bidwell placed first in the John Carroll Invitational on Sept. 6, winning medalist honors in that meet as well.
 
Mercyhurst will compete in the PSAC Championship Tournament Saturday and Sunday in Hershey, Pa.
