Lakers TIed For Third Place After Round One Of Mercyhurst Invite

Tyler Bidwell shot a first-round 73 Saturday.
Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's golf team is tied with Gannon University for third place after day one of the 2008 Mercyhurst College Fall Invitational Saturday.
 
Indiana (Pa.) leads the six-team field with 286 strokes, followed closely by California (Pa.) at 291. IUP has the top two individual golfers, and Leo Acklin is tied for third. Brad Boyle of IUP is in the lead with a two-under par 70, while his teammate Ryan Kennedy is in the second place at 71.
 
The Mercyhurst A team shot 304 in tying for third with rival Gannon. The Lakers are led by Tyler Bidwell, who shot a one-over par 73 in tying for seventh place out of 31 participants after one round. Patrick Jackson scored a 74 to tie for 10th. Matt Mahoney is tied for 14th place with 76 strokes and Ben Deets shot an 81 for 23rd place. Mike Wayner is in 29th after shooting an 86.
 
The Lakers' B team is in sixth place after round one with 325 strokes just two strokes behind Lake Erie College. Garrett Kimple has shot a 77 for 17th place, while Colin Farabaugh is in 22nd place with 80 strokes. Luke Keding and Mike Sito are tied for 25th place, as each golfer scored 84.
 
The Mercyhurst Fall Invitational will conclude Sunday with round two.
