Mercyhurst University Athletics

2010:  Appeared in 10 games for Mercyhurst, missing the Edinboro, California and Shepherd contests… helped the offensive line pave the way for running back Gerald Anderson to set the single-season rushing record… part of offensive line that allowed just 1.36 sacks per game in the regular season (4th – PSAC) and helped the Laker offense to the league’s second-best time of possession mark (33:12)… also was an integral part of Mercyhurst’s second-best fourth-down conversion mark… helped offense to 345.2 yards per game, including 125.4 rushing yards and 219.8 passing yards.

High School: Three-year letterwinner in football...started on offensive and defensive line in junior and senior seasons... as a junior, helped guide team to section championship and the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Championship en route to a Pennsylvania State Runner-up finish with a record of 15-1... as a senior was named team captain and helped squad to a section championship... earned all-conference honors as a junior (second-team) and senior (first-team)... led team in sacks and tackles for loss as a senior and led the team in tackles for loss as a junior... competed in Pennsylvania East-West All-Star Game.

Personal:  Son of Steve and Mary Spegal...siblings include Lauren, Chris and Matt... intended major is intelligence with a minor is criminal justice... mother participated in gymnastics and track and field at Slippery Rock University... father played basketball at Slippery Rock... sister Lauren plays collegiate volleyball and track and field at Betheny College... brother Chris plays football at Ohio University.
