BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Mercyhurst Volleyball has been ranked third out of eight teams in the NEC Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll for the 2026 season. This poll, which gauges media recognition and provides a national outlook for the upcoming season, reflects the team's rising status in the conference.

This year's ranking marks a significant improvement for Mercyhurst, who were ranked fifth last season. The team achieved a milestone in 2025 by securing a seed in the NEC Volleyball Championships during their first year of eligibility, showcasing their competitive prowess in the conference.

Notably, Julia Shepherd, who was named to the NEC All-Conference Second Team last season, returns to the squad. Shepherd made a considerable impact last year with 265 kills and a .276 hitting percentage.

The team will open their season at the YSU Invitational, beginning on August 28th against Youngstown State at 1 PM, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive season.
