Women's Track & Field Has Spectacular Day at Penn State Behrend Invite

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's track & field team continued their season at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. The Lakers had stellar performances, including a plethora of top-10 finishes on the track.
 
Freshman Emma Palmieri and junior Kathleen Tarlo competed in the 400 meters. Palmieri placed second overall with a time of 59.54. Tarlo placed ninth overall with a time of 1:10.20.
 
Freshmen Isabella Hagerman and Kennedy Butcher competed in the pole vault. Hagerman placed second overall, clearing of 3.35 meters. Butcher placed seventh overall, clearing 2.45 meters.
 
Butcher also competed in 400 meter hurdles. She placed third overall with a time of 1:14.79. She also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 18.43.
 
Freshman Nickayla Petro competed in the shot put. She placed fourth overall with a throw of 9.95 meters. She also competed in the discus, placing eighth overall with a throw of 29.72 meters.
 
In the javelin event, freshman Jordyn Barzano competed for the Lakers. She placed fifth overall with a throw of 26.48 meters.
 
Freshman Emma Valerio and Tarlo competed in the 800 meters. Valerio placed fifth overall with a time of 2:41.75. Tarlo placed 10th overall with a time of 3:04.01.
 
In the 1500 meters, juniors Kaila Szczygielski and Reagan Pettis, along with sophomore Caitlin Dugan and freshman Rowan Milliron competed for the Lakers. Szczygielski placed fourth overall with a time of 5:17.77. Dugan placed sixth overall with a time of 5:22.53. Milliron placed seventh overall with a time of 5:25.14. Pettis placed ninth overall with a time of 5:32.16.
 
Szczygielski and Dugan, along with junior Molly McIntyre and senior Bella Homorody competed in the 5000 meters. McIntyre placed fifth overall with a time of 20:12.00. Dugan placed seventh overall with a time of 20:46.00. Szczygielski placed eighth overall with a time of 21:14.00. Homorody placed 11th overall with a time of 22:15.00.
 
The Lakers continue their outdoor season on May 2nd when they compete at the NEC Outdoor Championships in New Britain, Connecticut.
