Lakers Finish Day Two of Asheville Bulldog Invite With Two Top-10 FInishes

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Mercyhurst men and women's track & field continued their outdoor season competing at day two of the Asheville Bulldog Invitational. Highlighted by two top-10 finishes, the Lakers look to keep their momentum up after finishing yesterday with five top finishes.
 
In the men's 100 meter, freshman Devin Easter placed 26th overall with a time of 11.23.
 
Freshmen Emma Palmieri and Emma Valerio, along with junior Kathleen Tarlo competed in the women's 400 meters for the Lakers. Palmieri placed eighth overall with a time of 58.66. Valerio placed 19th overall with a time of 1:05.33. Tarlo placed 20th overall with a time of 1:08.81.
 
Freshman Daniel Turner and junior Tyler Corbin competed in the men's 400 meter. Turner placed 17th overall with a time of 55.49. Corbin placed 19th overall with a time of 56.63.
 
In the women's 800 meter, junior Kaila Szczygielski placed 19th overall with a time of 2:33.70. Sophomore Caitlin Dugan placed 21st overall with a time of 2:38.03. Tarlo placed 26th overall with a time of 2:55.96.
 
In the men's 800 meter, junior Daniel Derby placed 21st overall with a time of 2:01.41. Freshman Thomas Gaydos placed 30th overall with a time of 2:12.09. Sophomore Max Dillaman placed 31st overall with a time of 2:12.29. Corbin placed 33rd overall with a time of 2:15.88.
 
In the women's discus, freshman Nickayla Petro placed 14th overall with a throw of 29.57 meters. She also competed in the women's shot put and placed 11th overall with a throw of 10.17 meters.
 
In the women's pole vault, freshman Isabella Hagerman placed third overall with a jump of 3.24 meters.
 
In the men's discus, freshman Gannon McMaster placed 24th overall with a throw of 35.04 meters.
 
Freshman Zachary Noble competed in the men's pole vault and placed fifth overall with a jump of 4.30 meters.
 
Freshman Antonio Fleck and sophomore Fabian Berrios competed in the men's triple jump. Fleck placed 15th overall with a jump of 11.98 meters. Berrios placed 16th overall with a jump of 11.61 meters.
 
In the men's shot put, McMaster placed 20th overall with a throw of 11.77 meters. Freshman Dominic Croce placed 28th overall with a throw of 8.75 meters.
 
The Lakers return to the track on Saturday, April 18 when they compete at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
