ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's ACHA team hosted the Crimson Hawks of IUP for a Saturday night matchup on Saturday.

Freshman goaltender
Francesco Scibbarrasi got the nod to start between the pipes for the Hurst, his 2
nd of the year.

28 seconds into the 1
st period,
Christopher Trokey found the back of the net for this 1
st goal of the season thanks to an assist from
Colin Barry. The Lakers would hold the lead for the majority of the frame until IUP answered at 18:35, leaving the score at 1-1 heading into the 2
nd period.

In the 2
nd period, the Crimson Hawks scored a pair of early goals, one of which was on the power play. After a 3
rd goal by IUP was scored at 10:58, the Hurst was able to answer with a goal from
Hayden Cox, his 5
th of the season. His assists came from
William Neeld and
Conner McCusker. IUP retaliated with another goal just 17 seconds later, but
Bowman Klippenstein was able to score at 17:19, bringing the score to 5-3 in favor of IUP. Klippenstein was assisted by Cox and
John Hanlon. After another IUP goal at 17:46, the Lakers were looking to have a strong finish in the 3
rd period.

In the 3
rd period, the Hawks scored their 7
th goal of the night at 8:22, which was quickly answered by Klippenstein for his team-leading 11
th goal of the season. After an IUP goal at 10:19, the Lakers made a change and brought in senior goaltender
Connor Bridges into the game to relieve Scibbarrasi. Despite some penalties throughout the remainder of the game, neither team was able to find the back of the net, securing an IUP 8-4 victory.

Scibbarrasi stopped 39 of his 47 shots faced while Bridges stopped all 7 of his shots.
