SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's tennis squad traveled to South Williamsport to battle against the Bucknell Bisons on Friday. After strong performances in the Fall portion of the season, the Lakers were looking to make an early impact as they enter 2026.
 
In singles competition, Daria Rogova came away with a 2-1 record after winning her opening set 6-3, dropping her next set 7-5, before securing victory by a score of 6-4. Kiersten Brown also had success with her 1-2 record. She dominated her first set 6-1 before dropping the final sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
 
In doubles competition, the team of Simone Mercier and Rogova battled hard, but ultimately fell by a score of 6-2. Ellyana Jacobs and Brown would also drop their match 6-1, and the team of Mollie Gray and Celeste Davis fell to Bucknell 6-2.
 
The Blue and Green ultimately fell via an overall score of 6-1.
 
The Lakers will next travel to Penn State on Sunday, February 8 to take on the Nittany Lions.
