PRINCETON, N.J. – The Mercyhurst women's tennis team heads to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the ITA Regional Championship this weekend. With the spring portion of the season fast approaching, this tournament will have long-term implications for the season and how the Lakers place at the national level. After strong showings at Allegheny, Binghamton and the NEC tournament earlier this season, the Lakers are looking to make a splash in Princeton and begin closing out their fall season on a positive note.
Lakers to Watch
Daria Rogova continues her strong play, stemming from last season, with singles wins at both Allegheny and in the NEC tournament. Despite splitting her singles matches at Binghamton, the senior proved to be a valuable asset in her doubles competition.
Celeste Davis performed well in each tournament, with her most recent wins coming at Binghamton where she went 2-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles for the Lakers.
Freshman
Variance Horn-Bourque found herself in the win column more than any Laker at the Binghamton tournament, going 3-0 in singles competition and 1-1 in doubles.
Looking Ahead
To wrap up the fall season, the Lakers head to Cleveland to compete in the Cleveland State Invite, beginning October 23.
