STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's track and field team continued their season at day one of the NEC Championships. Three top-10 finishes alongside a top-15 finish highlight the day for the Lakers.
 
In the preliminary round of the 400 meters dash, freshman Emma Palmieri placed 10^th overall, with a time of 1:00.39. Freshman Emma Valerio also competed, placing 26^th overall, with a time of 1:05.94.
 
Freshman Isabella Hagerman competed in the pole vault event for the Lakers. She had a placed third overall, clearing 3.40 meters, highlighting one of the top finishes for the Lakers.
 
In the shot put event, freshman Nickayla Petro placed 18^th overall, with a throw of 10.09 meters.
 
In the 3000 meters dash, senior Bella Homorody placed 20^th overall, with a time of 12:11.61.
 
The Lakers return to the track tomorrow to compete at day two of the NEC Championships. Coverage begins at 9:00 a.m.
